20 Questions
I got this idea from the internet at some point and made this power point a while ago. This is a good activity to not only have students get to know each other, but also to get a writing sample. Each person starts with a blank piece of paper. They DO NOT write their name, but simply a complete answer to the question. Students then pass their papers in a circle, writing the answer to the next question on the personīs paper sitting next to them. Keep rotating until each student has answered a question on each piece of paper. Then, mix up papers and give each student a page. They then have 10 minutes or so to find out who wrote each answer on their paper. Students write the name of each person next to the answer that person wrote. Then, ask the class what they know about different students. Students talk out, giving information about others in the class. After the activity is complete, collect papers to see how each student is doing with writing. All the main verb tenses are represented in the questions.
