This lesson incorporates cultural contexts and authentic speech into a General English lesson on making comparisons. It is largely a review/assessment lesson that has opportunities to utilize descriptive vocabulary, listening comprehension, discussion and writing related to comparing family and cultures. Requires Scene 11 from My Big Fat Greek Wedding DVD (specifically the Easter celebration at Dancing Zorbas with Tula´s family and Ian and the next scene when Tula and Ian explain their wedding plans to his parents and she takes out her decorated plan book). A fun activity with lots of options for further use, makes connections to students´ personal experience as part of a family and culture of their own.
