Daily Routines Song, Worksheet & Flashcards
This is a complete lesson, good for relatively small classes.
I have found the children remember the vocabulary from this lesson very well.
1. Use the big clock to show the children how to make and say, "1 o´clock", "2 o´clock" up to "12 o´clock".
2. Let them take turns setting another time, with the others telling the new time.
3. Give out the worksheets with the small clocks, and have the children draw the hour hand for the following times in order (since this will be the order of the song later): 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 and 12:00 (NB. no 11:00).
4. Teach the daily routines with the flashcards (for this lesson, just use ´I get up´, ´I wash my face´, ´I brush my teeth´, ´I go to school´, ´I do my work´ and ´I eat my lunch´.
5. Play some flashcard games to reinforce the vocabulary.
6. Now teach the children the song, with actions (ie, put your hean on the desk at the beginning to pretend to sleep, and get up slowly at first, then quickly and jumping up when the song speeds up. Repeat this for each verse, acting and singing slowly and then quickly - the speed changes keep the children interested and excited until the end of the song.
7. Play Simon Says or ´Do as I say, not as I do´ (similar to Simon says, but the teacher gives instructions which may or may not be the same as his actions - the children must follow the spoken instructions, or they are out for this round and should sit back down).
8. Review the vocabulary learned with various review activities or games.
Please note that I have used someone´s large flashcards to make these small flashcards and pictures, but I have looked all over the site and cannot find the original - if anyone knows where it is or comes across it, please could you post the link here? Many thanks.
