Scanning for FCE Reading part 4
Teacher will start the class telling students she has prepared a funny power point presentation called “Countdown reading game “. Students will have to read two short letters written by 2 English learners. Students will have to read and look for specific information to answer the questions just in one minute. People who finish in time with the right answer will win.
- The teacher will ask students what reading technique they used to look for specific information in the previous game, students will say “Scanning” so the topic of the class will be revealed by them.
- A PPT presentation related to the reading technique “Scanning” will be explained and shown to students. It will be divided into 3 parts:
1- A brief explanation of the reading technique scanning
2- A brief introduction in regard to the FCE reading part 4
3- Some important tips to take into consideration.
- The teacher will give students real FCE reading practice exam part 4 where students will have to look for specific information using scanning to find the answers of the 15 questions.
- Finally, the teacher will encourage students to go in front of the class in pairs and there will be a Countdown reading competition so students in pairs will have to look for specific information in one minute. The team who finish in time with all the answer correct will win. Finally teacher ends the class asking what they learnt today making students to talk about the topic.

Finaly for the final competition , they will have just 1 minute to read , you can join them in pairs , two teams and make them compete , you can look for other readings to make it more funny
