Present progressive/Rooms in a house Email Reading practice
It´s an ´email´ that I created for an open class, supposedly from a friend discussing her new home and daily activities. The original was saved as pptx and then converted to ppt so be sure to check the formatting (i.e. clouds should be over the present continuous verbs). After reading the email, the story was cut into strips (rooms/activities) and Ss chose randomly in teams one room/activity and had to mime the activity in front of the class. We then had the class guess the room and the activity.

This English is not English. The present progressive tense is used for NOW.

Hi Judy,
I appreciate the feedback. However, I´m not sure I understand your comment. What do you mean, "This English is not English?" Also, you are correct that the present progressive tense is used to express something that you are doing in the present(i.e. NOW), but that does not mean it is correct to use it ONLY in this context. For example I can ask, "What are you doing tomorrow?", and one can reply, "I´m visiting my grandma," "I´m driving to California," "I´m cleaning my room," etc...
Thanks, Andrea |
