Mingle Game
This is a speaking activity that practices invitation expressions: "What are you doing?" "We´re (_Verb_ + ing). Can you join us?"
The object is for Ss to find others who have the same activity card. They ´mingle´ using the above expressions, when they find someone who has the same activity they give an affirmative answer "Sure, thanks" and if not, they answer, "Sorry, I can´t." The first team to find all of its members first wins. Also, Ss must find the secret word on the back of their cards and write it on the board to make a sentence at the end, when all the teams have finished.
Before the class
1. Print the slides
2. Attach 2 sheets back to back (one side will have the activities and the other will have the secret message).
3. Cut the activities into their respective squares.
Playing the game:
1. Be sure to have numbered spaces on the board (1-8) so that each team can write their secret word in the right space.
2. Have Ss randomly choose a card (shuffle them in a bag or basket) and make sure they do not peek at the card.
3. Ss have 3-5 minutes to mingle and find their teams!
Note: You can replace the next activity (heads up, seven up) with another one your Ss enjoy.
