From the song "Welcome to my life" by Simple Plan" I have taken some phrases/sentences used to express sadness and desperation and I have taught them to my students using this PPT then we have listened to and sung the song. As a follow-up activity I have given my students 3 situations (your boy/girl friend has left you, you have quarreled with your best friend, you donīt get along well with your new classmates) in which they had to write e-mails to a friend expressing their feeling of sadness or desperation (reusing some expressions from the song). It was a nice lesson!!! Hope it can be useful!!!
