MYTHS ABOUT AMERICANS - CULTURE AND VOCAB IN CONTEXT
I´ve taught ESL only 2 places -- USA & China. (this can be used elsewhere) Here in China, there is a *massive* amount of crazy stuff Chinese people believe to be absolute fact about Americans. There´s so much consistency to it, in fact, that I put together this ppt to try to figure out why. Turns out that part of the reason is cultural perception. Part of it is (believe it or not) actually told to them in their education system. So -- This is designed to debunk myths, introduce new vocab in context, provide some cultural exchange and understanding. This is designed with Chinese perspective in mind, but it is easily altered for other cultures. I hope you find it useful. My gang loved it, thankfully. And, hopefully, for at least a few people I put these myths to bed, once and for all. :-) Cheers from China.
