This is the powerpoint that I use during my Shakespeare class each year. It´s a warm up where I ask them to write if they think each statement is true or false then after I read all of them we review and move on the videos linked on the last 2 slides of 4 minute easy to understand vids of Hamlet and MacBeth. Before I play the videos I give them the accompanying worksheet (http://www.eslprintables.com/printable.asp?id=900265#thetop) so they can follow along. After the questions about both videos we get into a discussion about the elements that are the same between plays (eg:magic, dead king, the son of the king doesn´t take the thrown), differences, and different fatal flaws of the characters (I explain what a fatal flaw is before I expect them to answer). On the 3rd page of the printable (the link for which here is here again http://www.eslprintables.com/printable.asp?id=900265#thetop) there are my notes for the discussion that you can feel free to use to guide your chat - or do your own thing. FYI: This along with the videos and worksheet take an entire class lesson in my experience.
