Describing food and cooking vocabulary
This is a worksheet I designed to accompany/expand on Unit 7 in Let´s Talk 1 by Leo Jones. I use this book in my class (and have uploaded ppts following the units) and felt like my students needed some extra work with unit 7, which is about food. It´s as a ppt file because I use powerpoint to make my worksheets because I find it easier, and then save them as a PDF. I´ve uploaded the ppt version so you can edit it as you see fit. The menu items are all based on foods in the book - the students have to fill in the blanks on the menu with the correct food item. I have not included an answer key because you can see all the food items in the ppts I´ve uploaded. Then I have my students underline all the words that describe the food, we compile a huge list as a clas, and then they have to correctly match the pictures to the cooking verbs, then categorize all of them. Then they practice writing descriptions; the 3 pictures they have to describe are all foods they know since they are Chinese; you can change them to what would be easy for your students. Finally, I give them a freer practice where I put pictures of dishes up on a ppt and have them describe them orally. Hope this helps.
