Engaging writing and spelling practice worksheet (editable vocabulary)
This worksheet is an engaging writing task for starter level students, rather than having them just copy lists of words. Students write the words from the word bank using four kinds of writing tools: a pencil, pen, colored marker (texta) and crayon. The vocabulary set is numbers, but Ive made it changeable so you can change it to whatever lexical set your class is working on.
To the person who reported my Spiderman writing worksheet. They are indeed worksheets with a task, Ive used them in my EFL Starter classes. The skills they practice are copying, letter formation, spelling, letter shape and word recognition. Students are forced to stop after using each writing tool and think as they write the next word using a different tool.
These tasks are far more engaging than writing out lexis multiple times on a traditional worksheet. Students can personalise their worksheet by using different colors, so it becomes a work of art. With the Spiderman worksheet, the student it was designed for was totally engaged in the writing task and demanded his parents request he could take his Spiderman worksheet home to keep. (He was a Spiderman fanatic). Along with Spiderman adapted games (listen and point (becomes listen and shoot a spider web)), it made English class far more fun and engaging for him. Im offering the worksheets here so beginning students get an engaging twist with tasks that are otherwise inherently boring.
