How to play spoons game (In Oman, kids know it with the name ‘fruits’ فواكه )
• The teacher should print the cards above one copy for the whole class. It’s better to print it in card paper in order to reuse the cards.
• The teacher should cut the cards and keep each copy in an envelope.
• In the class, the teacher arranges the class into groups of three. Each group gets an envelope and 4 spoons, ( or groups of six and give them 2 copies of each different card + 5 spoons) Then, after shuffling the cards one student in the group distribute the cards upside down. Each Student gets 3 cards.
• The game is to try to get 3 cards that match like the example below.
• One student should start giving the one next to him the card he does not need. In circle they exchange the cards until one of them matches 4 cards just like the example above. Immediately, get a spoon and his friends should do so. One student will be left without a spoon.
• The one without a spoon should say “Prove it,” to the winner. The winner should show and read the cards (This is the most important part in the game in which all the students will be learning- never let the students to miss it). They can shuffle the cards and play again.
Tip: Tell your students to study the vocab in advance otherwise most of them will not even be able to match. Therefore, they will not enjoy.
