B1 -B2 Practise with present simple, present continuous, past simple, past continuous, present perfect simple & present perfect continuous
Learning tenses like the present simple, present continuous, past simple, past continuous, present perfect simple, and present perfect continuous is important because they allow students to express actions and events in a variety of time frames and contexts. The present simple is used for routines or facts (e.g., She works every day), while the present continuous describes actions happening right now (e.g., I am studying). The past simple talks about completed actions in the past (e.g., I visited London last year), and the past continuous focuses on ongoing actions at a specific time in the past (e.g., I was watching TV when you called). The present perfect simple links past actions to the present (e.g., I have eaten lunch), while the present perfect continuous highlights the duration of an action that started in the past and continues into the present (e.g., I have been studying for two hours). Mastering these tenses helps students describe actions with precision, improve their storytelling, and communicate more clearly about when things happen and how they are connected. First, students need to familiarise themselves with the 6 tenses and their usage. Then they read the sentences to see which tense is needed to complete the sentence using the given infinitive in ().
