B1-B2 Practise with present simple and past simple passive or active voice 1
Students should learn Present Simple and Past Simple in both Active and Passive voices because these tenses are essential for effective communication. The Active voice allows students to describe routines, habits, and completed actions clearly, while the Passive voice helps shift focus to the action or the object, which is important for various situations, such as formal writing or when the doer is unknown or unimportant. Understanding both voices helps students become more versatile in expressing ideas, improving their ability to describe events and actions in the present and past from different perspectives.
First, students need to familiarise themselves with the 2 tenses using both the active & passive voice. Then they read the sentences to see which one is needed to complete the gap-fill using the given infinitive in (). Answers on page 2.
