This is just a take on the popular Survival game. Explain to Ss that they are stuck in the middle of the jungle. Ask them in groups to write down 5 things they´d need to survive. They elicit and board a list. Then get them to think about the fact that they´d need other things to make some of the things on the list work, e.g. a gun need bullets, a hammer needs nails, a mp3 player needs a solar battery. Then put them in groups and give each group a different list of things they have. Tell them they have to keep a note of what they buy in the table. Then give them some fake money. I am based in Taiwan and therefore used Taiwanese dollars but you can adapt that for your class. Then, usually in groups of 4, two of them stand up and travel to the other groups as buyers, while the other two sit down and sell. At the end they can count up their money and report back what they´d do with what they have. It´s great fun! Any questions please ask!
