This is a pair work with role cards. Students imagine that one of them is for example a husband, the other is a wife. On the role cards they get there is a list of things which they both planned to do yesterday (an agenda). Unfortunately neither of them did what they had planned. They ask each other questions then and give explanation. A good way for a communicative training of the past simple tense, I think!
