Random pair game. 1/2 the class are nurses, half are patients with various symptoms. Nurses have 4 pills which either make you better, worse, ok or good. Kids randomly choose partners and have the conversation. Then they pick a card (pill) They will remember if they keep getting the "worse" pill :) Closing comments: Ask which nurses are not good and which are good (gave the "better" pill) I focused on only the simplest language for my 1st graders, but of course you can change that to more difficult language for example... "What´s wrong? I have pneumonia. Oh I´m sorry to hear that." etc.
