The Illustrated Plot The Sword in the Stone
Before getting students to work on the project, the teacher will revise with them some concepts seen in literature.
- On the blackboard, the teacher will draw a plot diagram that looks like a mountain. With the students, the teacher will identify on the drawing the five different elements of a plot diagram in English, but with the French equivalences, which are:
Introduction:/Situation initiale
Rising action/ Élément déclencheur
Climax/ Péripéties
Falling action/ dénouement
Resolution/ Situation finale
- When the students are familiar with the plot, the teacher will hand out the little pamphlet he/she made for the students. The pamphlet is related to the movie “The Sword in the Stone”, and the students will have to identify the five different elements by associating the five major scenes in the movie.
- They will have to illustrate an action from the movie in the pamphlet provided that corresponds to the right element in the plot diagram.
- Also, they will have to write a short sentence describing the actions.
- This will be done individually and the teacher will move around to help students if need be.
