Famous Britons Famous Britons

A lesson I use with my pupils to re-introduce the simple past : First they need to recognize the people on the sheet (I use a transparency first and give then the occupations later and the names even later). Then they make sentences with was and were (or wasn´t weren´t if they made mistakes) as these people are dead. Then there´s a homework (on page 2) and a pair work (with dates of birth and death) and finally they can find out who did what. I then use a listening about Henry VIII. The cultural background in these worksheets is quite important but the students love it if you do it with fun and they´re SO proud when they can recognize someone at the beginning.
