Skills: Understanding a passage and telling the time
Description: This activity is suitable for the test of their knowledge. They feel themselves a hero at the end of the activity so they try to use the correct sentences to save the kitty. The think of being a hero remind them how the time is telling.
In Class: After the preparation, you copy this hand out and distribute the work sheets to the students. Give instructions about the activity, such as what they can do and help them to comprehend John’s story. After the comprehending the story and instructions, choose a student for representing John and use a toy for kitty. Student who represents John choose another student to answer the first question. If this student answers the question correctly, John takes one step. If the student does not give right answer, John stay in the same place when the correct answer is given from the other students. When John complete the steps and find his kitty though correct answers, the activity finish. In this activity, the whole class is hero rather than one hero in the class. They share their feelings so they do not make fun of other students. For that reason every person in the class involves the activity and practices their knowledge about telling the time.
Follow up: You can change the story or the way that John follows. In addition to this you can change the linguistic part of the activity.
