Biography and Interview with Britney Spears
UPDATED WORKSHEET!
Previous knowledge needed: past simple regular and irregular.
Time: If you do parts A-F it should take 60 minutes or so.
Overview: This is a great worksheet (though I say so myself!).
*Ss to convert present simple to past.
*Practice of everyday collocations "get married", "sign a contract" etc
*Introduces time phrases.
*Encourages Ss to write their own biographies.
*Analyses the "Wh" question words by linking questions and answers.
*Ss will also create their own past simple questions.
*Includes pointers sheet for teachers.
A. Gapfill exercise. Students have to change the verbs to past simple and put them in the appropriate gaps in Britney Spearsī biography.
B. Ss then are asked to circle all the timephrases they can see.
C & D. On to the interview part. Ss are asked to write out past simple questions and match appropriate answers, thereby testing knowledge of "Wh.." questions.
E. Ss create their own question and answers in an imaginary interview with Ms Spears.
F.This part of the lesson links on from the sheet. Ask Ss in pairs to make a timeline of BSīs life using specific timephrases and the info given in the biography. Itīs not as simple as it seems and they have to analyse the true meanings of the time phrases. Ss can go on to write a timeline of their own life.
N.B. The main biog is factual (taken from Wikipedia) but the interview part is made up.
