Writing Numbers Activity
I do this a couple of times a week and itīs great for repetitive practice of number ordering and writing - catering for different abilities.
Print out a copy of this plus a copy of my other worksheet called "Numbers 1-9 cut and paste". Have a set of numbers 1-9 from that worksheet for each student already cut out.
Give each student a copy of this worksheet and a set of numbers 1-9.
Students must located the matching numbers from the cutouts and glue them in the appropriate box. Check students understanding of numbers asking them randomly "What number is this?"
Once finished gluing the students trace the numbers. Direct them to start at the top to bottom.
Then they attempt to write the numbers on their own. Encourage them to look at the numbers to copy using direction words such as for 2: "start at the top, around and down and across" Trace the number with your finger on the desk as you say it so they can visualize how each is written correctly.
With continued practice i find students advance very fast!
