What Do You Think?
This activity features a specific issue, and invites the student to state their opinion and then back it up with reasoning. "Daria" (from the popular TV show) states that in her opinion, junior high school students shouldnŽt have to wear school uniform to school. This activity was aimed at Japanese junior high school students, and they definitely had opinions on the subject! My students wrote their opinions and reasons, and were then invited to share them with the class. They also enjoyed drawing themselves in the space provided.
The topic can easily be modified if youŽd rather your students discuss another issue more relevant to their situation!
This activity incorporates writing and speaking.
