I used this worksheet as a pre-reading/pre-speaking brainstorming activity to get my students ready to read/discuss. Why? Taking time to prepare students before they read & speak can have a considerable effect on the studentsī understanding while at the same time increasing their enjoyment in the task at hand. Also, a worksheet like this activates studentsī prior knowledge. The benefit to this is that a learner who does not feel completely confident of his/her ability becomes more self-assured and relaxed. [Sorry for all the details, but I felt it important to write out the benefits of this step of the learning process]. Thanks!
