Role Play: Columbus Goes Fund Raising (Card 1/2)

This is one of the two role cards (Columbusī role card) in a historical role play. To be able to play the game, you need to download the other card too (the Spanish Courtīs role card). Columbus wants to get funding for his voyage to India in 1492, so he pays a visit to the Spanish Queen. Your students will put themselves in the shoes of Christopher Columbus and Queen Isabella of Spain and act out what the explorerīs hearing at the Court might have looked like. There are helpful cues on the card to give the students ideas as to what to talk about. Also included is a short historical background, the text of which you can simplify to suit lower level students, as well. Enjoy!
