St. Patrick´s Day: KWL Learning strategy & Vocabulary exercise [2 pages, key inlcuded)
STUDENTS LIKE DOING THINGS! AN ACTIVE LEARNER IS A PRODUCTIVE LEARNER! The K-W-L strategy stands for what I ´K´now, what I ´W´ant to learn, and what I ´L´earned by the end of the lesson. By activating students´ background knowledge, it improves comprehension and can guide students through many learning experiences. This strategy can be used successfully with any topic, not just St. Pattie´s Day. Use this sheet to introduce a topic and provide an opportunity for students to write about what was learned upon completion of the learning experience.
Part 2 of this exercise is a vocabulary activity called "Odd-one-out" and the key is included. I used this to introduce the lesson about this holiday today with great success. Enjoy! ~~Brooke
