Reading choices for y making different sounds at the end of a word
The pupils are able to practice sorting words according to the pronunciation of the y sound at the end of the word. The pupil has to decide whether the y makes an e sound like in happy, or an i sound like in cry. When I made this I put a coloured spot onto the back of the cherry card and matching spots on the back of all the word cards that would fall into this group. The pupils could then check for themselves if their reading choice was correct. I also had two little cardboard postboxex to make the sorting more fun.
