Polite Flashcard Exercise
This worksheet is designed to introduce students to polite/good behaviour language. Each ´polite word´ has a partnering synonym and also a phrase demonstrating how the word might be used in a sentence.
Method: Cut the worksheet into strips containing the two synonyms and their attached phrases. The students may be asked to pick a strip of paper and then to write their two synonyms onto pre-prepared cardboard flashcards. The flashcards can then be used by the whole class to practice reading the words and saying them out loud. The meanings of the words can be discussed, as well as typical ways that the words might be used in a sentence. Role-playing each word is another potential activity.
