Clothes board game
1.Divide the class into pairs.
2.Give out the Clothes board. Make sure the children have a coin and counters to play the game.
3. Check children know all the vocabulary by asking, eg T: Whatīs number three? P: Trainers.
4. Explain that children will take turns to spin the coin. If it lands on heads, they move one square: if it lands on tails, they move two squares.
5. Choose one of the options below for playing the game.
- Name the clothes:
Children have to name the clothes on the square on which they land, eg Socks! If they can do this, they spin the coin und have another turn (up to a maximum of two). If they canīt do this,
they stay where they are. The child who gets to the end of the board first wins.
- Whatīs this? / What are these?:
When a child lands on a square, their partner asks: Whatīs this? / What are these? and the child must answer, eg Itīs a jacket. / Theyīre trainers.
- My favourite ...:
When a child lands on a square, they say, eg My favourite trainers are white. / My favourite T-shirt is
red and yellow.
- Dress the boy/girl:
Either get children to draw or give them a copy of an outline human body. Children play the game as for Name the clothes or Whatīs this? / What are these? but additionally they draw the clothes on the boy or girl outline.The child in each pair who has a complete set of clothes (either trousers or jeans, either boots or trainers, etc) on their figure at the end of the game is the winner.
