Wholesaling is part of the marketting system which provides channals of distribution that are used to bring goods to market. Most manufactured consumer goods are maketed through an indirect channal . this may be from the manufacture to the wholesaler to the retailer to the consumer, or through more complicated channal . however, im general , wholesalers deal in product that are to be resold by retailers to comsumer. A direct channal moves goods from the manufacturer or producer to the comsumer.
Wholesaling is mostly ba field of small business , althrough there is growing chain movement in the US, About a quarter of wholesale units account for one third of total sales . Two-thirds of the wholesaling middlemen are merchant wholesalers who take title to the goods they deal in. Ther are also agent middlemen who negotiate purchases or sale or both, but theyb don’t take title to the goods they deal in. They sometimes take possession though. These agent don’t earn salaries. They receive a commission, which is a percentage of the value of the goods they sell.
Wholesaler, simplify the process of distribution .Since a wholesaler handles a large assortment of items from numerous manufacturers, he greatly reduces the problem of both manufacturer and reitaler. The storekeeper dose not have to deal direct with thousands of diffirent people. He may have a well-stocked stoced store and deal with only a few wholesalers.
