Inductive Metric Unit
This lesson is designed to be inductive. Students will use self-discovery to make connections between measuring mass of objects using gram units. It is important to be able to use estimation for measurement. Metric units are used throughout the world, so an understanding of their measurement is necessary. By having students weigh several different objects using metric units, they will be able to visually and cognitively, differentiate between milligrams, grams, and kilograms. This will enable students to determine what metric unit weight an object will be placed in.
