Rudyard Kipling’s poem ”Mandalay”
Rudyard Kipling’s poem “Mandalay” is the first part of a teaching unit on Burma. Afterwards students will learn about the country, its people, history, geography and most importantly its present-day political situation. I have decided to do the poems first because the class learnt about the British Empire last year and therefore, “Mandalay” is a good way to activate students’ existing knowledge and to pass over to the present situation in the country.
