Friends - Where It All Began Shapes
Vocabulary exercise for after viewing "The One Where It All Began," from Season 1, Episode 1 of "Friends." Students individually assign a character to each shape according to whatever criteria they want. (It mustn’t be random, however!) Then they attribute the adjectives to the characters, writing the words inside the shape. Because everyone will perceive things somewhat differently, the students work in small groups to explain their choices. (The purpose of assigning the words and shapes to the characters is to facilitate remembering the meanings of the words, most of which do not appear in this episode.) This exercise is based on an idea from the excellent Oxford Univ. Press book, "Vocabulary" by John Morgan and Mario Rinvolucri. (I uploaded a similar exercise for the "Fawlty Towers" episode, "Gourmet Night."
I used the free font Gabriel Weiss’s Friends Font for the titles.
