Emotions please! - Or: Why was Susan furious at the beach? - Because Tom stole her bikini top!
Pupils must combine two things that apparently have nothing to do with each other (an emotion and a place) and make up a connection between the two. Great fun when played fairly rapidly and when pupils come up with funny and creative answers.
“Why was Tom surprised in the supermarket?” - “Because the milk bottles started talking to him”
“Why was the nurse exhausted in the hospital?” - “Because there was a power cut and she had to cycle and cycle to create electricity for the rest of the operation.” ------
Detailed instructions and three variations on page 3. -----
This is an unconventional exercise that enhances creativity by inviting pupils to divergent thinking. (Divergent thinking is a thought process or method, which is usually applied with the goal to generate ideas. It is often used for creative and problem solving purposes)
