Desert Island Survival Game: Communicative speaking activity
This is a communicative speaking activity intended for intermediate to advanced adult ESL students. In groups, students read about a group of people who are marooned on a desert island. The names, ages and occupations of the people are given on the printable. Students learn that the passengers have a small survival pack, but that it only contains enough food for five people. Students must talk about which 5 passengers they will give the food to, based on the ages, occupations and (implied) skills of the various passengers. They present their decisions to the class, who can accept or challenge the reasoning of the group that is presenting.
