Christmas Shopping
One of a series about festivals in Britain. This is my own original text and is not available in any textbook, anthology or website.
The series was originally intended to serve two purposes:
1. to familiarise Chinese students intending to study in Britain with aspects of the culture. It should also be relevant to students in other Asian countries.
2. To provide practice in various reading skills especially decoding new words from context.
The exercise should be useful for Cambridge FCE, IELTS, TOEFL etc classes where general knowledge of western culture is assumed and vocabulary decoding skills need to be developed.
It could also be adapted for class discussion, note taking practice or summary writing practice.
If users find it useful I will upload the rest of the series which covers Hogmanay, Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Remembrance Day
