The object of this activity is for the students to identify which time/time phrase belongs to "for" or "since".
Instructions:
I print the "for" card and "since" card on different color paper and post it on opposite sides of the room. I give one student the "period" card and another the "starting point" card. They have to then place it under the right heading. All students are given a card and together as a collective they are to decide where the cards belong.
Answers:
for: three days / weeks / a long time / six months / 20 years
since: Tuesday / the beginning of the month / eight in the morning / three o´clock / childhood / January / 1998
