Simple Present /Present Continuous battleships
Pairwork. Students use 2 colors. Each partner gets a sheet & marks their ships (with one color) horizontally or diagonally (suggest 1 battleship = 4 squares; 2 tankers = 3 squares each; 2 cruiser = 2 squares; 3 lifeboats = 1 square). Partners then identify a square on the grid by making a sentence using the simple present for the 1st part of the sentence from the left hand side for the horizontal line/coordinate, and complete the sentence by putting one of the phrases across the top into the present continuous for the vertical line/coordinate). Partner says "hit" or "miss". Ss mark hits/misses using the second colour. Game ends when one student sinks all the other studentīs ships.
