This is part of a lesson I did on applying for a job with my class. We use the first sheet as a warm up and look at the two fictitious ads I made and discuss what are the important words in the ads. Then we do the matching exercises on the second sheet and the students discuss any words they are not familiar with. Then I give them the sample cover letter and show that any buzzwords in the ad have been included in the letter. The students then use the formal letter key to write their own letter, I point out to use "buzz" words from the ads to enhance their letters e.g. enthusiastic, energetic etc. Mt class loved this activity and some even wrote real cover letters for jobs they were applying for. Which I encouraged and was so happy it proved very useful to them. There four parts to this upload.
