Listening and speaking English in a variety of settings empowers, connects, and provides deeper understanding of the world and the people around you.
Curriculum to be covered
• Importance of fluid conversational skills
• Relying less on visual cues when listening to spoken English
• Responding to most conversational questions on a variety of topics spoken at normal speed and academic questions with some difficulty.
• Understanding and following directions
• Responding to common expressions
Rationale Statement
• The students need to understand the importance of being able to understand spoken English when spoken at a normal rate. Why learn it? To be better equipped to function and make connections in an English-speaking environment, including school, neighborhood, and in the community. Focus on final task and how all the lessons lead up to and culminate in its performance. Learners perform and understand better when able to plan for final tasks and see the connection of the lessons learned to it.
