Sentence Rules and Fun Fact Cards
This is a Kagan activity I made to reinforce the basic gramatical rules associated with sentences (sentences was not an option of choice under Grammar, so I put it under writing). Students are each given a card (just double the deck) to start. It does not matter if a student is asked a question twice - reinforcement. Students find a partner, Ask-Ask-Trade; each student, in turn, asks the other the question on their card. If the student answering is correct, the student asking responds by saying, "Thatīs correct! Good job!" If the student answering is incorrect, the student asking states, "That is incorrect, try again!" The answering student may have three tries at a correct response, receiving a "hint" from the asker with each successive try. Upon completion, students thank each other, trade cards and find another partner quick fast. It is easy to see how the initial interaction prepares the asker for the next question, as well as reinforces (by the answerer becoming the asker) of non-internalized grammar structure. This is a great activity to not only reinforce grammar rules associated sentences but, to practice modeled language in a social situation. Hope you like it!
