Colour Spinner Game with Chart ( I made the spinner myself. It is not from a template.)
How to play:
Print out the spinner and the arrows and cut them out. You will only need one of the arrows. Laminate one spinner and one arrow and trim off the excess plastic. Attach one arrow to the middle of the spinner with a paper clip, or paper fastener (brad or split pin). If those are not available you may use a screw and 1 or 2 bolts. If your arrow cannot spin freely you may put a metal washer under the arrow. You may also try making the hole in your arrow slightly bigger or adding a piece of cardboard to the underside of the arrow for added weight. It will work best if you punch a hole in the base of the arrow with a paper punch. Make your arrow wider if needed.
Print out one or more copies of the chart.
Place the spinner on a table or desk and have students take turns hitting or flicking the little arrow. When the arrow lands on a color word the student(s) must come up with an item of clothing, food, drink or a toy that comes in that color. All answers are to be written on the chart. Each color word has a number beside it. Those numbers indicate point value. The winner of the game is the person with the most points or the person who has filled in every box in the chart. For an added challenge you may cut the chart into 4 sections and distribute each section to a different team. People on each team may only name items that fit into their category.
You can also use this spinner with your favourite dice and tokens board game. The spinner can be used instead of dice. In this case, the numbers on the spinner are used to show how many spaces someone can move forward. Every time someone has a turn, they must spin the arrow and once again name something that is that color before moving their game piece. (You choose whether or not to use the chart for this type of game.)
