Here is Part 2 of my Pirate Pronouns game. These sentences are mainly from Regents English Workbook (Level 1 for Beginners), although I have made a few changes. Students must read the cards once and then replace the underlined word(s) with the appropriate pronoun. Print twice for a set of 48 cards. (Don’t forget to print enough backing cards.) You will find the game pieces on the last page of this file. To assemble your standing pirate game tokens, cut out the pirates on the left. Then cut out the matching circle for each one. Fold the tab on each pirate forward so that it is facing or in front of the pirate. Take each folded tab and glue or tape it onto the matching circle. The standing pirates may balance better if you place them just off center in each circle, closer to the front. They will also stand up better if the circles are glued onto a piece of cardboard. You may use the pirate coins as game tokens or rewards. It is up to you. (Those are the images on the right.) The game cards can be used with my Pirate Pronouns game or on their own for Memory or Go Fish. To make the game more interesting….place the cards in a cloth bag with a drawstring cord. I can imagine a dark velvet bag that children have to reach into to retrieve a card. You may choose to use jewels or coins for a treasure. Remember you can use plastic gold coins, chocolate coins in gold foil, Hershey’s Kisses, Ferrero Rocher or Lindt chocolates. For the jewels you can use plastic children’s jewelry or colorful polished glass “stones” from a place that sells flowers and other plants or in a pet shop. (Sometimes those stones are used in fish tanks. By the way, many pet shops have fish tank accessories with a pirate theme.) If you use this game for Halloween you may find Pirate themed accessories among the decorations and costumes in many shops (at least in North America). Have fun! I had fun making this game.
