Attitudes and objectives questionaire.
These 2 simple questionaires (which can be used separately) will help create that all-important motivation in your students. By asking them their opinions about English, the first questionaire subtly hints at various extrinsic motivations for learning English, for example: "English will help me in the future at university or work" [agree / disagree].
The second part asks students to set an objective for the term, for each of the five skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Vocabulary). This activity worked fine on an elementary class of 11-year-olds. By forming a concrete image of themselves succeeding at English in the future, students motivation is enhanced.
Good luck.
