Up, Up and Away Summer Board Game with 96 Word Cards and Song Lyrics (41 spaces on the board)
You will need tokens and a die to play this game.
Print pages 1 and 2 and tape or paste them together to create one large gameboard. Laminate the board if you can, as this will make it last longer. Print the word cards and cut them out. Laminate them for longer use. (There are about 96 cards.)
Students may place their game pieces just below the bottom of the board or slightly to the right side of the board. Each time a student rolls a die they must pick up a word card and either read, define or use the word they see in a sentence before they may move forward. This is a summer game, so I have used words related to summer. You may add more words if you choose. The goal is to be the first one to reach the top air balloon (number 41). There are 41 spaces on this board. Be careful
.the birds are actually counted as spaces. You may choose to only have students draw a card if they land on a balloon or they may draw a card for each turn.
Please add some arrows to the board if you think they are needed.
As soon as I named this game Up, Up and Away I remembered a nice song that you will see the lyrics for on page 8 of this file. If you follow the link you can hear the song. This song would make a nice gap fill activity or be a nice relaxing song to sing with your students.
Have fun!
