The Borrowers Worksheet (the 1997 film - activities)
I used this worksheet with my 9 year old kids who are taking Oxfordīs Happy Earth 1 English course, but as itīs not based on the class book, but on the film, it can be used with any class of 9+ year olds.
The exercises include:
- family vocabulary (mother, father, brother, sister, daughter, son),
- English names (first name, surname/ last name),
- food (chicken, potatoes, bread, cheese, sausages, beans, eggs, tomatoes),
- drink (water, milk, apple juice, orange juice.
You can easily modify the multiple choice answers and add the vocabulary you want to practice with your children.
The Borrowers appear in the Happy Earth class book, so I thought that it would be nice to watch the film and talk about it afterwards using some of the new vocabulary.
Also, you donīt have to watch the entire movie with the kids if you donīt have enough time (around 90 minutes), you can watch just parts of it or tell it as a story.
We had a lot of fun watching the film and talking about it, I hope you will too! (:
