Learning about The Beatles
My university students here in China love American music but many of them have never heard of the Beatles. My classes have 30 to 32 students so I decided to select 16 Beatles songs and pair my students to each song. I like to do my pairing randomly so I cut the song title into two parts, have my students line up and leave the room, giving them a part of a song title. In the hall, they seek their partner by comparing words. If they think they found their partner, they come to me to validate and then they go back into the classroom, making it easier for the other students to find their partners.
In addition to the song title, I included a small section of the Wikipedia entry on The Beatles. They present according to the number on the song, thus organizing the Wikipedia information accordingly.
