Irregular Verbs - Basic Drill
This fun drill should help your students memorize the past tense of some of the most common irregular verbs in English. My students love it!
1. Divide the class in two groups (A and B).
2. Give each student in group A a copy of the card on the left(the one that contains the word "START").
3. Give each student in group B a copy of the card on the right.
4. Each card has two columns: "YOU HEAR" and "YOU SAY". When the students hear a word thatīs written on the "YOU HEAR" column, they must say the word that appears next to it on the "YOU SAY" column.
5. To start the activity, the teacher will say "START!". Group A will then say "BE". Group B will answer "WAS", and so on.
6. The drill can also be turned into a competition between the two teams. Those that donīt answer fast enough will lose points!
