Learn by heart / Like the back of my hand - Idioms and Phrases
I used this in my middle school. The students focus on learning the phrases "learn by heart," "know like the back of my hand," but one or two others pop up, like "piece of cake." First, you explain what they mean, then students practice the dialogue with their partners, and ask and answer provided questions with each other. They can also write the answers, if they´re not big talkers. Good for 10 to 15 minutes.
