Structured Student-Created Conversation - Hotel Reception
This worksheet/activity-card is designed to foster so-called "free-talking" with a strong structure. Students will work in pairs and each student will fill out BOTH the guest portion and the receptionist portion of the sheet. Then, students will take turns, one time student A will be the guest and student B will be the receptionist and then students will switch roles for a second conversation.
The conversation is guided by the spreadsheet underneath. The key is that students have not been given EXACTLY what to say, but have been given the IDEA of what they must say. For example, instead of saying on the worksheet: "How many nights will you be staying?" the worksheet says "Ask how many nights the guest will be staying". This way, the students must work to create their own sentences and the teacher can focus on the specific problems students are having with making sentences in English.
